Software

The EuroMISE Centre has developed several software products. You can ask about them at zvarova@euromise.cz.

NEST Application

The NEST is an expert system, which serves to set up risks of atherosclerosis on the basis of information about the life style, family history and personal history - without any special examinations. The system has been developed in the department of the EuroMISE Centre at the University of Economics, Prague ( Asoc. prof., Ing. P. Berka, Ph.D.; V. Laš). More detailed information can be found here.

Guidelines Application

For diagnostics and treatment of diseases professional medical societies create „Medical Guidelines" how to best diagnose and treat patients according to present medical knowledge and in the given healthcare system. For example, the Czech Society of Cardiology mentions a number of guidelines for cardiology on its web pages, as well as the European Society of Cardiology mentions a number of European guidelines on its pages.

DATAMO Application - data and models

In biomedical applications and in health care we often meet tasks when gathered data give evidence of some objects (e.g. patients), in which we observe several attributes. Attributes can be of different types, e.g. height, weight, number of siblings, which we rank among quantitative attributes (we measure and express their value in numbers) or family status, sex, education, which we rank among qualitative attributes (we express their values in words). Exact description of attributes is very important for their quality statistical processing and eliminating of mistakes, which can originate while entering their values. The DATAMO application facilitates exact description of data due to the „data model" and it helps with further processing of data, which are saved in a data matrix, by means of other methods.

Stepper Application

The Stepper is a special form of the XML editor, customised for needs of multilevel formalization of text documents.

The Stepper offers following functions:

  • working with text/knowledge blocks - editing of inner structure, attribution configuration, transformation of blocks to lower levels (on bases of transformation rules),
  • keeping of consistence between singles levels - automatic generating of Xlinks references,
  • browsing crosswise levels - locating of all target elements originating from the same source text, identification of corresponding parts of the source text for the specific target element,
  • rule editor - transformation rules, rules adjusting connections between attributes.

Standa Aplication, StandaE

In epidemiology, we often need to compare several populations with themselves and with a standard population. In these populations, we observe a category-specific (mostly age categories) mortality or morbidity rates. A consideration of category-specific rates is certainly more accurate than a comparison of the crude rates, but it requires a lot of comparisons. In many cases, it is useful to have a single summary rate for each population taking in account differences in the structure of the populations. This can be done through a procedure called standardization.
Two main methods used are referred as the direct and indirect standardization. Both methods consist of taking a weighted average of category-specific rates; in that they are similar.

Anthromeda Application

The software tool Anthromeda (Anthropometrical database) for support of antropometric examinations is appointed for outcome collection of antropometric measurements and related data and it enables to carry out some calculations from the gained data. Motivation for such a collection of data is variable physical characteristics of a population and resulting impacts on body functions. On the basis of characteristics computed from body proportions, it would be possible to predict some impacts on time.

In the database there are income data like length, height, wideness proportions, weight, girt of various parts of a body, thickness of a skin fold, head proportions, etc. The system carries out a lot of calculations from these data, including indexes of body weight and dimensions, computation of a body structure by the Matiegky method and by the Drinkwater and Rosse method. The system also defines a somatotype of a person by means of the Heath-Carter method and it also defines other indexes.
