The project deals with the development of methods and technologies providing continuity of health care in the information society. Research is focused on the development of methods and technologies of remote access to information in a form of data and knowledge in connection with electronic health documentation.

In spite of a long-time endeavour to encourage the structured attitude to the electronic health record, retrieval of information, especially of the information relating to the process of decision making in healthcare, takes usually a lot of time and effort. The electronic health record offers possibilities to formalize the structure of a classical health record and it is the basic prerequisite for development of telemedical applications. Telemedical applications enable immediate access to the data, which are directly connected with a present health status of a patient. It also contributes to the possibilities to revise previous cases for the purpose of a control, study, research and management of healthcare. In this process it its very important for specialists to agree on clinical terminology, on definitions and on the structure of the health record. One of the main outputs of the projects will be verification of applicability of the shared electronic health record for the management of electronic health documentation and another output will be provision of continuity of shared health care. From the research point it is essential to compare present security technologies, remote access, data storing and data structuring in the context of healthcare and legislation of the Czech Republic and verification of applicability of the chosen technology as a data source for research purposes (statistics, data mining). The practical result of the project for healthcare practice will be also in reduction of expenses for treatment, particularly by reducing repeated examinations and performances and enhancing the quality of health care because of the possibility of immediate accessibility to the needed healthcare information by means of healthcare institutions, which will use the research results.

The results of the project will be accessible in the form of papers in reviewed journals, presentations during prestigious international conferences and in the form of prototypes of decision support systems for cardiology and dentistry.
