After having finished the grammar school with the specialization in human subjects, Petra Přečková has started to be engaged in the study of the English language. Firstly, in the year 1994 she left for Ireland to attend the Monkstown Park language school for foreigners. After the year spent at the Centre Bohemia language school, she passed the state language exam in the English language in the year 1995. In autumn of the same year she started to attend the University of J. E. Purkyne in Usti nad Labem with the specialisation in the English language. The university was finished in the year 2000 by passing the state exam and receiving the MSc. title. During her studies at the university she also attended one-year intensive course of the Italian language at the Czech-Italian grammar school. In the year 2002 she passed successfully the CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) international language exam in the English language. Since 2003 she has been a student of a postgradual study programme of Biomedical Informatics at Charles University in Prague at the 1st Faculty of Medicine. In autumn 2004 she received a scholarship for a stay at the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications in the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, USA. During the years 1994-1995 she worked as a teacher of the English language at the Paideia language school and during the years 1999-2000 at the Lamea language school. Since 2000 she has been working in the Institute of Computer Science of Academy of Sciences CR, v.v.i. in the Department of Medical Informatics where she focuses mainly on medical classification systems and nomenclatures. During the years 2000-2004 she participated in the project of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport CR LN00B107 within the framework of the research European Centre for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology – Cardio and since the year 2005 she has been participating in the research Centre of Biomedical Informatics, the project of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport CR 1M06014. Since the year 2002 she has been participating also in the Academy of Sciences CR program “Information Society” within the project Information technologies for Development of Continuous Shared Health Care 1ET200300413.
