Activity
I worked as a physician in the ward and as a member of the research group taking interest in humoral factors involved in the pathogenesis of arterial hypertension. In 1980 I received a scholarship in the Institute of Pharmacology, University of Milan, Italy, for studying prostaglandins. Later, after passing exams of the 1st and 2nd degree in Internal Medicine as Senior Registrar, since 1989 as a university teacher. I am interested in cardiology and nephrology, predominantly arterial hypertension. I participated in several clinical studies of antihypertensive drugs with simultaneous research of humoral changes caused by the therapy. Recently, my research interest has been extended to genetic aspects of arterial hypertension and their relation to humoral factors. I am also interested in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and its use both in clinic and research. I participated in several research grants. Now I am a contractor of a running grant on the genetic and humoral factors in hypertensive families. I participated actively in several European Meetings on Hypertension. In 1994 I took part in the international course of Medical informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology (EuroMISE) held in Prague in frame of the TEMPUS project. I had lectures in later terms of this course and I am interested in biosignal processing (ABPM) and computer supported decision making in therapy of arterial hypertension (Copernicus project).
