Machar Grammar School in Brandýs n/Lab., Jana Adášková was awarded a place at the Science Faculty of Charles University in Prague from 1993, majoring in Biology and Mathematics. She completed her Master’s at the Department of Anthropology and Human Genetics in 1998. That same year she started a Bachelor’s at the Charles University Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, majoring in financial and insurance mathematics and graduated in 2000. She then spent 6 months travelling across South America. She has been studying for a doctorate in Biomedical Informatics at the Charles University 1st Faculty of Medicine in Prague since 2006. The title of her dissertation is “Methods Used in Biomedical Informatics for Identification of Candidate Genes for Cardiovascular Diseases”. From 1994 - 1995 she taught German at Orbis Pictus Grammar School in Prague and from 1998 - 2000 she lectured at the Charles University Institute of Applied Mathematics and Informatics. At the same time she was working for Fischer Air as an air-hostess. Since 2000 she has been working for the Institute of Computer Science at the Czech Academy of Sciences as a research assistant in the Department of Medical Informatics, where she is responsible for analysis of data from clinical studies and strategies for identifying human genes for cardiovascular diseases. From 2000 - 2004 she was involved in Research Project LN00B107 supported by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and conducted at the research centre of the European Centre for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology - Cardio.
