The Department of Medical Informatics of the Institute of Computer Science AS CR, a part of the EuroMISE Centre, participates in many research and educational projects as a co-solver workplace. The scientific cooperation is focused mainly on the applications of advanced statistical methods, on the analysis of biomedical data and knowledge, on utilization of the structured electronic health record, methods for decision support and on data mining in biomedical databases. In the field of education and training the department concentrates on using new information and communication technologies and on methods for knowledge evaluation. The EuroMISE Centre has initiated the constitution of two significant national groups of international societies. It is HL7-ČR operating within the HL7 (Health Level Seven) international society for standardisation and ISCB-ČR operating within the ISCB international society (International Society for Clinical Biostatistics). The EuroMISE Centre in cooperation with the Department of Medical Informatics of ICS AS CR and the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University has established the doctoral study program of Biomedical Informatics, which was put into effect in the 2001/2002 academic year. During the years 1994-2004 the EuroMISE Centre set prerequisites for the establishment of a more extensive Centre of Biomedical Informatics that was formed with the support of the 1M programme of research centres of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports CR and it connects research in the field of medical informatics with research in the field of bioinformatics. The Centre of Biomedical Informatics (CBI) - The aim of the project in years 2010-2011 is to develop and verify a protocol for the preparation of an oligonucleolytic chip with the optimal set of genes for diagnostics and prognosis of cardiovascular diseases; verification of the developed technology and addition of gene sets in the express chip with new knowledge and markers. A system for decision support, computer-assisted diagnostics and individualization of health care in cardiology will be designed and verified as well as a system for decision support in stomatology with focus on a temporomandibular joint with elements of interoperability. Verification of suitability of developed methods for decision support in stomatology and enhancement of quality in postgraduate PhD. studies in the field of biomedical informatics are also the aims. The results of the project will be accessible in the form of papers in reviewed journals, presentations during prestigious international conferences and in the form of prototypes of software systems. Center of Biomedical Informatics (CBI) provides a unified scientific platform for connecting various disciplines of biomedical research. Interdisciplinary collaboration performed under the umbrella of CBI features multiple intertwined research interests, all aiming at improving safe and efficient collection of medical data, their storage and transfer, sharing of the information gathered at different stages of patient care and related biomedical research, complemented with advanced statistical data analysis. |
ResearchResearch activities of the EuroMISE Centre are focused on the development of interdisciplinary research. It concentrates on methods of statistical data analyses, methods for extracting relevant information for decision making and managing uncertainty, methods for decision support, study of risk factors of diseases, mathematical methods in genetics and epidemiology. ... | | EducationUndergraduate compulsory and optional courses of chosen parts of medical informatics and statistics for students of the faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, the 1st Faculty of Medicine at Charles University, the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University and the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Charles University, courses on Internet for students of the 1st Faculty of Medicine at Charles University. ... | | HealthThe cooperation among physicians, statisticians and informaticians in the EuroMISE Centre is based on the long time lasting cooperation EuroMISE Centre with the General Hospital in Prague and Municipal Hospital in Caslav, in both hospitals namely in the cardiology.
