Courses

The inseparable activity of the EuroMISE Centre is organization of postgraduate courses and courses within the lifelong education from biomedical statistics (pí. Golková). Informatics and Oncology (1994), Data Analysis (1994), Bases of Biomedical Informatics (1996), Medical Informatics in Hospital Practice (1996), Statistical Methods in Biology and Medicine (1997).

INTERNATIONAL courses organized within EuroMISE European projects (TEMPUS - PHARE) and IT EDUCTRA (4th Framework Programme) for teachers, physicians, ant other university students from Central and Eastern European countries: Medical Informatics (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997), Medical Statistics and Epidemiology (1994, 1995), Statistics in Clinics and Epidemiology (1997). More than 100 students from the Czech Republic, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Lebanon, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovenia participated in the international courses. Lecturers from universities and research centres from France (University of Bordeaux II), Ireland (Trinity College, Dublin), the Netherlands (Erasmus University, Rotterdam; Limburg University, Maastricht), Germany (Ruprecht-Karls University and Cancer Research Institute, Heidelberg; Philips University Marburg; GSF-Medis Institut, Neuherberg), Greece (Aristotle University, Thessaloniki), Switzerland (Geneva Hospital), and Great Britain (UMIST, Manchester) taught in these courses. In recent years the successful graduates of these courses have been helping with the EuroMISE courses. The EuroMISE centre participated also in the lectures of these courses: Introduction in Computer Science, Operation Skills and Management of Health Care Information in Targu Mures (Romania, 1997). During the IMIA working conference in Newcastle (Australia, 1997) the EuroMISE Centre participated in creation of international guidelines for medical informatics education.

In the field of multidisciplinary postgraduate education the EuroMISE Centre prepares courses for Ph.D. students and new textbooks, which are also available in an electronic form and the Centre is involved in a new way of postgraduate study management in the field of biomedical informatics and in using of new e-learning technologies in knowledge evaluation in education and teaching.
